SUT Soil Moisture Sensor DESCRIPTION
The soil moisture sensor is a device that detects the dielectric constant of the soil by measures in high frequency (70Mhz). This value depend on the soil moisture and is insensitive to water salinity. Water in soil is a conductor and on the basis of its concentration is possible to obtain an indication of the humidity of the soil. The sensor is automatically temperature compensated and has a standard output 4-20 mA, or normalized 0 - 2Vdc or digital RS485/Modbus using MCS modules. The sensor can be easily interfaced with any acquisition system which allows to calculate the value of VWC implementing equations by approximation.
